1. MADA Aid to the Masseleh Community During COVID-19 Pandemic/Lockdown/Hunger Period
Good evening Family.
A big thanks to this noble forum for raising $1400, under the current circumstances. This fund is going out as MADA’s Assistant Aid to the Masseleh Community on:
*The Lailatul Qudr
* hunger period
* Coronavirus lockdowns
Mr Samura is already on top of the rolling ball & directing the fund.
He will be posting his account & breakdown shortly.
On a separate note, is there a ‘ Tonko ‘ forum??
Thanks again & stand by for your input on the final delivery message to the Masseleh people.
In addition to the above🏿🏿🏿 the $1400 was equivalent to Le 13,165,908.
40 bags of rice were bought at Le 300,000 per bag including transportation totaled Le 12,000,000.
The remaining Le 1,165,908 was spent to purchased the following items:
4 bags of salt
2 bags of onions
2 cartoons Tomatoes
2 cartoons Maggie.
Items were delivered today. See photos below:
Thank you all.
Bags of rice were 50kg each.
Thank you all for a mission well accomplished.
You are welcome
As we continue to mourn with Mr Conteh , we pray for the Almighty to give him & the rest of the family extra strength & courage to move on.
It’s thankful to this entire group for this gesture on behalf of MADA. Hopefully, this will hit the spot in the Masseleh township.
And all the efforts & strains that Mr Samura & his team went through in making this delivery possible, are well appreciated. God bless MADA.
AMEEN
Ameen and thank you all.
Generally, although this MADA effort seems to be a drop in the bucket, it was however well received by the people.
To give a better understanding of the seriousness of the situation, the Masseleh township is located in the rural area of Sierra Leone. The houses are not equipped with running water and toilets. And they do not have the luxury of refrigerators or Kitchens. The daily lives of the people depend on small farming. Therefore, imposing series of lockdowns and curfews on this population is like piling disaster on top of disasters.
2. The Masseleh Football Soccer Team
The Masseleh Football /Soccer Team continues to excel under extreme hardship conditions. See photo below with accompanying audio commentary. The commentator was praising this Masseleh Football Team for winning the Regional Gala Championship. The final score was 1:0 victory over their rival team from Malkia. The goal was scored by 'Ozie'. The Most Valuable Player (MVP) title was awarded to the player with the red head band and red shorts in the photo. He is their best goal keeper. His nickname is " ARATA " (The Rat); in line with his moves in snapping to save shots in his goal box.
Good performance. Congratulations to the Masselleh team.
And It appears to me that our Primary school football field is fenced. Wonderful!
This is very impressive, congratulations!
3. Cry for Help With The Teachers Supplementary Salary
Better late than never. Here's a message I received a few days ago from Mr Sheku Bangura, acting headmaster of Masselleh Community Primary school.
"Hello sir this is to remind you people in USA about the help you usually give to the community teachers as we are at the end of the term. We have only three government paid teachers out of seven teachers .The four are in the hands of the community. Please share."
Good morning Family. As a follow up to the 2 urgent issues concerning assistance to the teachers & the funeral of the late Pa Kabba, the original plan was MADA to send $300. However, Mr Samura volunteered to round it up to $400. In this way, there is equal distribution of $200 each to the teachers ‘ assistance and the funeral ; on behalf of MADA to the Masseleh community.
He already made arrangement for the funds to be delivered the usual route; primarily to Mr Alie Turay.
The funeral celebration event was set for January 12th.
Thanks so much for all your dedicated support..
Many thanks for a job well done..
4. The Masseleh Primary School
Grim photos of the Primary School in need of major face lifting are below. For the video, it's a desperate voice of the video recorder showing various angles of the school's deplorable condition. It requires fixing that ranges from masonry, roofing ,painting, and replacements of windows and doors.
5. The Masseleh Hospital

The Masseleh Hospital needs the basics to deal with the looming Corona Virus Pandemic Outbreak.
6. Appreciation and Thank You
In March this year a donation of $100 was made to MADA by Ms Linda Hawkins. That amount was immediately deposited to our dwindling account.
All these updates will be posted to the MADA website as soon as possible.
Your continued support is well appreciated.

2016 News from Maselleh
Supportive package from MADA to the Masseleh Community (Teachers, Soccer Team and the School's Athletics Dept.)
Tuesday, October 18, 2016 11:25 PM
MADA-USA put together a multi-million Leone supportive package for the teachers, soccer team and the athletic department for the school in the Masseleh town. The package, which was shipped out in early July, was delivered yesterday, Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, on behalf of MADA USA and MADA SL. A breakdown of the package is as follows:
Assistance for teachers salary.
$600 was sent as assistance for the 6 volunteering teachers of the Masseleh Primary School. Even though the school has been approved by the government, there is still bureaucratic holdup that is not allowing the teachers to be paid their regular, over-earned salaries.
Medals, Ribbons and A Trophy/Cup for the School's Athletics Department
The package included the following for the Athletic's Department:
1 - 10 inch Athletics championship trophy/cup
20 - gold classic medals
20 - silver classic medals
20 - bronze classic medals, and
100 - Teamwork ribbons.
Soccer/Football Supplies for the Masseleh Optimist Football Club:
As pointed out in the email of March 8, 2016,(and just posted on the upgraded MADA news page www.madaassoc.org), A whole set of uniform were sent for at least 16 players. These included:
Team Jerseys
Matching Shorts
Socks
Shin Guards
Soccer Cleats/Boots
Duffle Bags, and a
21 inch Soccer Championship Trophy/Cup
1 - Soccer Ball
Accessories of Whistle, Soccer Pump, etc.
All of these items are a form of encouragement after the team's wonderful performance last year. Also, the uniform is MADA's statement of support after last year's near-miss of borrowed uniforms being pealed off our player's backs during a game.
Our goal at this point is to continue supporting the team. teachers, the school, the hospital, and scholarship fund, and any urgent project/request.
A big thanks to all our board members as well as our core members for their continued support. Mr. Soriba Samura is contributing $200 towards this package. We matched this amount. There is also the continued support from Dr. Sidikie Bangura, and Mr. Mohammed K. Conteh. It is a blessing and we continue to pray for Dr. Bangura, as he makes continued progress on his illness. Additionally, the core members strive to meet the monthly dues of $10.00 to help sustain our account. Our next goal is to provide financial assistance to recommended students, who are heading or doing higher studies at college/technical or trade institutions.
Pictures of the contents of the package are already posted on the MADA website (www.madaassoc.org )
Other Issues
By this past August, Mr. Soriba Samura mad a shipment of 1,500 books to the school. These are books he had collected over time. Photos of these books are being made available at the website (www.madaassoc.org)
MADA Web site is being upgraded; still doing final touches and spell checks.
Thanks again for all your interest and support for MADA.

MADA Supports the Masseleh Football/Soccer Team
It is exciting to report the good news about the Masseleh Football/Soccer team; called the "Masseleh Optimist Football Club" (MO-FC). During the 2016 football season, it won three Gala championships convincingly while playing under harsh conditions.
The team had been in need of supplies and equipment that include uniform, cleats/boots, soccer balls, nets for the goal posts, etc. For the most part, the players were playing with borrowed uniforms. In fact, in one of their tournament games, the borrowed uniforms were almost ripped off the players' skins. Luckily, sympathizes had to intervene and the players were allowed to play to the end of the game. And that game indeed ended with a victory on the Masseleh side.
The news on this last incidence was received as a wake up call for MADA to step up its support for the team. The first set of supplies is being put together for shipment and delivery as soon as possible. It'll include a complete set of uniform, cleats/boots, socks, and shin guards for 20 players. The package will also include soccer balls, nets for the goal posts, pumps, etc.
Officer Jumeye Nabinett (daughter) volunteered to secure the uniforms and socks. The chosen color was green for the shirts, shorts and socks. The front on the shirts has' MADA' inscription and the numbering is on the back. The order for the uniform was placed before details about the team were obtained. The plan is to include medals in the package. The medals, to serve as a encouragement to the team, will be presented to the players while suited in their new uniforms.
From now on, MADA will strive to keep the team well equipped. A photo of some members of the team and a list of the members can be found here.
As always, a big thank you for your usual support.
